Petter Yxell (b. 1982, Gothenburg) works as an artist across disciplines - mainly with installations and spatial interventions, but also drawing, photography, and artist books. His work is equal parts material-driven and research-based and focuses on the intersection of architecture with ecology. Applying post-humanist theory to urban and semi-urban environments he is interested in investigating the built environment as a multi-species achievement.
In Jokkmokk, Petter will explore the relation between land, climate and building with a particular attention to temporary structures and recycled material as an adaptive and ecologically enmeshed architectural approach. This will encompass research into the nomadic traits of Sami tradition as well as inte Jokkmokk as a market place.
Petter received his BA in Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art and his MFA from Goldsmiths College and has since worked internationally across a number of residencies and projects, most recently in Taiwan, 2019.
